On the Lochac Variance

So, here’s a minor hypothetical.

Lego is a company that pays a license to Lucasfilm & Disney to make Star Wars sets. Because of the limitations of the way Legos are made, minor variances between the actual content and the Legos are allowed.

Then Lego goes to Disney and says “Hey. We want to have the right to make big changes. Those changes might change the backstories of Luke or Ashoka or how the Force works. We don’t actually have any specific changes planned yet. We just want the right to make those changes pre-approved by you now.”

Anyone think Disney is going to say “oh, yeah, sure. Go for it”?

No, I don’t either.

There was no way the BoD was going to give a kingdom — in another country or not — free reign (HA! GET IT?) to make wholesale changes to the way the fundamentals of how the SCA works without asking for approvals for specific proposals. Call it regressive, call it conserving power, whatever. It was never going to happen.
