Pelican Scroll Text for Gunnar Siggurdsson

There was a man named Gunnar, who was a knee-listener of Brise.  Tall he was, with sword-sharp sight, clean in courage.  Landsman of the channel-sky, Gunnar roved the whale-road, Horse-Brother of the Great Dark Horde, and he cleaved the cold waves willingly.  In friend-fellowship with him were Aine, and William, and Gwyneth, and Edmund.

When he rested, bond-brother of Talymar and Melisande, he made the Barony of Middle Marches home.  But the mission maintained, and thus did he, Shepherd and Warden, guard the tall tower.  Made drottinn by absent Alasdair and sweet Green Jenny, he bore the Heart and Teeth of the Dragon into battle-din, hailer of the halberd, and now.  So this man worked, word-wielder, as Steward, and Seneschal, and mind-feeder, and rune-writer and beer-brewer.

At many Althings he counseled his people, thwarting bad plans, settling many squabbles.   Those who speak of him and his tribe say this:

They are Gaftnos, which, in the forum of his forebearers means: They give much often, and will not be gainsayed.  And he has been branded Gunnar Vondur for his actions, many times, but never has that prevented him from protecting his people, nay, not e’en for any reward redoubled.

MidRealmers call him Sagacious, Sorrow-thief, Seeker of Work To Be Done.  He has o’erseen the Coronation of Kings and the Elevation of Empresses; the investitures of Barons and Baronesses, and three-score Pales, which is how the realm reaches her people.  Since set to stillness, he took not leisure, but arose a reeve, and then took others to train them, and then they became reeves and reeve trainers.  All, this his service, now know.

Thus when Cadogan gold-giver ruled the MidRealm with his bright valkyrie AnneMarie, the 90th reign of the Middle Kingdom, was Gunnar called Master, five snow-sleeps since he was deemed a dragon’s heart, and three more still to this day.  Now, his honor.  Now, his calling.  Now, the uncut thread of Gunnar Siggurdsson, Pelican.
